Appointed in 1959, the Idaho Crop Improvement Association is the authorized agent to conduct quality control and administer certifications on seed potatoes and every other seed crop produced in the state of Idaho. Seed potato growers enter their seed lots into this program to be summer field inspected, laboratory tested, and post-harvest tested through a winter grow-out in Hawaii. This program provides customers with evidence that Idaho seed potatoes meet or exceed set standards for virus and other disease levels, lot isolation, varietal purity and ultimately certification.
